Ultra High Purity Gases – Carrier and Detector Gases

It is not the purity of the gas that will guarantee error free analyses, but the maximum level of impurities that makes the difference. The importance of impurity levels depends on the function of the gas, the sensitivity of the analysis and on the specific detector used. That's why Air Products has developed the Experis® range of Ultra High Purity (UHP) gases containing the lowest levels of impurities available on the market.

The Experis® UHP range include different grades of acetylene, air, argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen, nitrous oxide and oxygen. Our patented BIP® cylinders are specifically designed for carrier gas applications, eliminating O₂, H₂O and THC from the gas stream to ensure optimum performance and total analysis cost-savings.

You should select a GC gas and grade most appropriate to your specific analysis i.e. not containing impurities which would affect your analysis or degrade your chromatographic equipment. To help you select the optimum gas grade Air Products has experts ready to advise you.

For optimum column performance, we recommend BIP®, BIP® Plus, and BIP® ECD gases which have O₂ <0.01 ppm and H₂O <0.02 ppm guaranteed per cylinder because of a built-in purifier.
