Foaming Reduction

Air Products’ Halia® aeration systems use oxygen rather than air as the aeration gas and can be utilised to reduce foaming levels in aeration basins. Use of oxygen reduces the total gas flow to the basin by 80% while retaining the same level of oxygen supply required to sustain the biological process. In air systems, the nitrogen present in the air passes through the basin in the gas phase and contributes to the degree of foaming in the basin.

The Halia mixer aeration system is our most cost-effective solution for oxygen aeration in activated sludge processes. It consists of oxygen supply — either as liquid oxygen or onsite generation — plus floating oxygen injection/mixing equipment, and it minimises the need for additional mixing equipment within the basin.  This offering is not available in all regions; please check with your local office.

Halia® propeller aeration system

The Halia propeller aeration system consists of oxygen supply — either as liquid oxygen or onsite generation — plus submerged oxygen injection equipment. This system offers low cost capacity increase or retrofit for diffused air systems. It can be wet installed and has low operating costs. The Halia propeller aeration system is uniquely suited for use with onsite oxygen generators.
