Mask Leaks
There should be a leak from the vent/exhalation port on your mask. This is to let the air that you breathe out, to escape. You should follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to eliminate leak from your mask. Try to minimise leak as too much leak can compromise pressure delivery and your NIV therapy. Your BiPAP machine will cope with leak but if you continue to experience problems please contact our Homecare Helpline on LoCall 1850 240202 (ROI only) or Freephone 0800 328 5875 (NI only).
Always clean your face thoroughly before applying your mask. Face creams may cause the mask to move on the face.
Missing mask port plug
This is not a major problem as the ventilator machine can compensate for this small leak. Do not stick anything over the port eg sticky tape or a plaster. Simply contact our Homecare Helpline on LoCall 1850 240202 (ROI only) or Freephone 0800 328 5875 (NI only) and we will check over your mask and replace the missing plug or the whole mask.
