Going on holiday in the Republic of Ireland

It is possible to travel and go on holiday while dependent on oxygen.

However, it is beneficial to try to plan a holiday at least 2-4 weeks in advance and always seek medical advice before you book and travel on holiday. Take details of your oxygen prescription with you and any accessories you may need.

There are some easy steps for you to follow when going on holiday.

Step 1
Seek medical advice from your doctor or respiratory specialist to travel before you book your holiday.

Step 2
Obtain permission for your holiday oxygen equipment to be delivered and stored at your holiday accommodation.

Step 3
Medical Card Holders:
Please contact your PCCC office and provide them with the following information:

  • the full holiday address
  • the dates of your holiday (from – to)
  • a contact name and telephone number at the holiday address, not your home telephone number
  • the booking name and reference of the holiday where appropriate

Non-medical Card Holders:
Please contact Air Products and they will inform you of the cost of the holiday service.

Step 4
Your holiday equipment will be ready for you when you arrive and will be collected when you leave. Please note deliveries and collections will only take place between 8.00am-5.00pm, Monday to Friday .

Step 5
Please ensure that you have enough oxygen cylinders for your journey to and from your destination.
