Background: With a background in both industrial and research roles, Richard is leading Air Products’ innovation drive, getting involved in a host of collaborative research projects and gathering ideas for further research and development.

About Richard

Richard is responsible for identifying research projects for Air Products to support and gathering ideas which could lead to new products for use in a variety of sectors including the food industry; metal fabrication; energy and logistics.

A qualified material scientist, Richard has been active in the research and development field for Air Products for more than X years and over this time, the company has participated in hundreds of collaborative research projects. He currently sits on a number of industry panels at Campden BRI and regularly attends industry events hosted by The Welding Institute (TWI). Richard is also a research fellow at the University of Liverpool.

His experience

With a broad knowledge base, spanning a wide range of industry sectors, Richard understands the needs of cylinder gas users and the ideas that could benefit them most. Working as part of Air Products’ European centre of excellence in research and development, he is applying this knowledge by helping to select research projects and prioritise ideas that will bring most benefit to end users.

At Air Products, Richard has been involved in helping to bring a number of innovative gas products to market, which have since become market leaders including the Integra® gas cylinder and Maxx® range of welding gases.

On a personal note…

During his leisure time, Richard enjoys coaching Aylesbury’s under 14 rugby union team.
