Background: For 20 years prior to German reunification, Frank was a chief engineer for the offshore deep-sea fishing industry.Backed by his experience as a metal fabricator involved in the construction of marine propulsion units, today he is a welding consultant and safety expert, specialising in advising on pressure vessel installations.

About Frank

Born in Rostock, Frank spent two years working as a technical manager for a Bavarian refrigeration company, before joining Air Products in 1994.After working as a sales engineer in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region of Germany, he became a welding consultant, advising customers in east and west Germany about how to get the best out of their welding processes.With his extensive industrial experience, Frank visits customers regularly to provide technical and safety advice.

His experience

After spending many years as an engineer in the deep-sea fishing industry, Frank has gained extensive knowledge of welding operations and he has since added to his know-how by taking a variety of courses.

Frank knows from experience that welding processes need to be carefully managed to get the best results and choosing the right shielding gas for each application is vital. He also advises customers about when to install onsite tanks, ensuring a continuous supply of the gases needed by larger welding shops and laser cutting plants.Frank particularly enjoys the diverse nature of his role – advising customers about everything from gas storage to the latest machinery and welding techniques.

On a personal note ...

Frank has built his own house in Bad Doberan, near Rostock, where he lives with his wife and his two grown-up children live nearby.He is passionate about water and engineering and is also an experienced diver.With a vintage copper helmet and gear weighing 80 kg, he regularly dives in local waters to depths of up to 60 metres.He has also helped to found a historical diving club "Helmtaucherverein Ostsee e.V." in the town of Warnemünde. A documentary TV programme has been made about the historical divers from Warnemünde.
