Cylinder colour coding – new European standard

A new standard governing the colour coding of transportable gas cylinders is coming into force across Europe. The new standard, EN1089-3, will ensure consistency of colour coding, helping to improve safety standards across the industry.

Air Products has many hundreds of thousands of cylinders. The repainting exercise will take a number of years to complete and customers may have cylinders delivered which bear both the old and new colours. The cylinder label will therefore be vital in understanding the product contained within the cylinder.
